The National Weather Service will be holding a state-wide severe weather test of its warning system in Iowa today. The sirens will be activated at 10 a.m. throughout the Hawkeye State. It is also hoped that all residents of Iowa will also take the time to formulate a family plan that can be put into effect in the event your area is struck with as catastrophic storm.

Earlier this month Illinois and Missouri conducted their state-wide tests with Illinois' being held on March 1 and Missouri's on March 15.

Although tornadoes are more prevalent during the spring months they can occur during any month of the year.
