The story of a Hannibal woman murdered by her fiance' was featured in August on Investigation Discovery's television series 'Happily Never After.' On October 1, the network will feature another story from the Show-Me State on national television.

The pilot episode of a new series, 'Beauty Queen Murders,' will tell the story of Jackie Johns, a Nixa beauty queen whose body was found at Lake Springfield in 1985. The crime went unsolved for over two decades. According to the Springfield News-Leader, "A Missouri State Highway Patrol investigator re-examined the Jackie Johns cold case in 2007, in light of improved DNA evidence examination technology." This investigation led to the conviction of Gerald Carnahan of the murder. Carnahan is now serving a life sentence at Potosi Correctional Center.

'Beauty Queen Murders' debuts October 1 at 9 p.m. on Investigation Discovery.
