I don’t know about you, but the weather around here is really starting to get to me. Now I don’t mind the snow, but the constant cloudy days are beginning to wear me out. This spring has not been the best as far as the weather is concerned. It seems like we have had cloudy skies every day forever. It's depressing to say the least. As I write this we are experiencing another cloudy damp day. After a while it starts to get to you. They call that Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Some people just call it cabin fever or the winter blues.

Constant cloudy conditions can make a person suffer from a lack of vitamin D or what some people call the “sunshine vitamin”.  I can still hear  my mother on a sunny day say "go outside and get some vitamin D". Studies will show that sunshine can change one’s personality from depression to upbeat.

Now I am not a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express, and they say that during elongated gloomy weather conditions, one can suffer from a loss of the hormone serotonin in your brain. Bright lighting and sunshine will increase that hormone deficiency.

According to the Harvard School of Public Health, some 1-billion people worldwide suffer from a vitamin D deficiency.  It’s good to know I am not alone or am I? Is it bothering you as well?
