Quincy Public Library and the Office of the Illinois Attorney General will offer tips and best practices to prevent becoming a victim of identity theft on Wednesday, October 22 at 1:30 and 5:30 pm at the Quincy Public Library.

Caitlyn Smith, Community Outreach Liaison with the Illinois Attorney General’s office, will present the latest information on identifying, preventing, and reporting identity theft. Identity theft happens when personal information is stolen and used without permission, wreaking havoc on finances, credit history and reputation.

Identity theft is one of the fastest-growing crimes today. Victims may spend months or years trying to correct records and resolve losses.  Each presentation will be geared to individual lifestyles and will include a question and answer session.

There is no charge for participation in either of the identity theft workshops, but reservations are requested. Reserve your space by calling Quincy Public Library at 223-1309 or online at quincylibrary.org.
