I attended last Wednesday's Quincy Gems baseball game, and thanks to "Chickenman" Dave Comer, I got the opportunity to meet the Super Bowl winning Baltimore Raven offensive lineman Jack Cornell of Quincy.

I have been at events where Jack has been, but this was the first time I actually got to shake his hand prior to his throwing out the first ball (and a football it was). He shook my hand like an NFL lineman would and we exchanged greetings. I could not help but feel the huge Super Bowl ring he was wearing on his hand during the hand exchange. While this was all going on he was signing autographs for the kids and actually spent some time with each youngster to talk with them.

With Jack graduating from Quincy Notre Dame High School and the University of Illinois prior to being signed by the Ravens, he definitely has a huge following. The Gems were fortunate to be able to schedule him to be at the game in that he is getting married in a few days and will be off for the Ravens training camp soon.

I had heard nothing but nice things about Jack when he was an amateur and if Wednesday night was any indication he is still the same Jack as a professional and that is quite refreshing to see and hear. Thanks Jack for being the "class" guy that you are and on a personal note, thanks for making me look "little".
