Two Northeast Missouri residents escape serious injury after their vehicle overturns near Kansas City.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred in Clay County at 3 a.m. Saturday.

Troopers say the crash was caused by an unknown vehicle that veered off I-35 into the median.  It then came back onto the road and struck a vehicle driven by 26 year-old Kelsey Verdier of Palmyra.   The collision caused the Verdier vehicle to overturn onto the median. The driver of the mystery vehicle initially stopped but then left the scene.

A passenger in Verdier’s vehicle, 32-year-old Michael Bell of Hannibal, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Liberty Hospital.

Verdier escaped injury. Both Verdier and Bell were buckled up according to the crash report.
