I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know the first thing about high school football. Or any football for that matter. In fact, I’d be dead last in our office pool right now if it weren’t for Sarah Deien who skipped the first week entirely—and is still only three points behind me.

What I’m saying is, if you’re coming here for thought-provoking insight and statistical analysis, you’ve come to the wrong place.

If you’ve come here to watch (perhaps not for the first time) a clip of a Quincy kid laying out a defender and say something to the effect of “DAAAAAAYYUUUMMM”, then you’re in luck!

Let’s see that again in slow motion!

Oh right, I don’t know how to do slow motion. How about once more in regular motion?

That’s Blue Devils running back Jirehl Brock who set the internets on fire last week when this video snippet went viral and appeared on USA Today and Sportscenter. While plays like this don’t come around that often, I’m told by those much smarter than myself who actually follow high school football that this kid is quite good. According to Matt Schuckman of the Whig, Brock is a four-star recruit with six scholarship offers on the table (and counting).

Keep up the good work, Jirehl! I imagine this won’t be your last time on ESPN!
