I know it might be hard to believe with constant days of 90+ degree heat and nearly a foot of rain in the forecast, but fall is just around the corner. And while football and pumpkin spice lattes are great and all, perhaps nothing says "fall is here" more than seeing the trees change color. It truly is the spirit of the season. And if you want to see autumn at its autumniest, there's actually a scientific way to figure out when the colors of fall will come to the Tri-State area.

A website called smokeymounatins.com predicts that the optimal time to see fall colors in Missouri and Illinois is October 15. By October 22nd, the trees will partially be changed and by the end of October all trees will have their true fall colors. The website does state that

"While no tool can be 100% accurate, this tool is meant to help travelers better time their trips to have the best opportunity of catching peak color each year."

Bring on the fall colors. I am ready.
