Advocacy Network for Children is looking for community volunteers to help with its Prevention Program.  The program teaches children safety strategies and is designed to decrease children’s risk of being abused.  The program includes a teacher and parent component that provides safety tips, strategies for talking to children about personal safety, and what to do if a child discloses abuse.

Volunteers are needed to assist as a Happy Bear costumed mascot which is presented to children Pre-K through 1st grade.  No experience is needed and volunteers will be trained in the curriculum.

Advocacy Network for Children provides advocacy for abused and neglected children in nine counties in West Central Illinois.  The counties include Adams, Brown, Cass, Schuyler, Hancock, McDonough, Pike, Scott and Morgan.  The heart of our mission is to protect and uphold the rights of abused or neglected children and to act as a powerful voice in these children’s best interest.

If you would like more information or would like to volunteer, please call the office at 217-223-2272 or our Prevention Specialist, Jessica Bolton, at 217-617-5347.
