Hannibal Police Make 26 Drug Arrests [Video]

Hannibal Police report 26 arrests in August related to illegal drug activity. Police Chief Lyndell Davis says the arrests follow an investigation over several months by detectives assigned to narcotic investigations.

"Large scale arrests such as these would not be possible without the cooperation of the county prosecutors" stated Chief Lyndell Davis. "Both Marion County and Ralls County Prosecuting offices worked well with HPD detectives to insure the investigations and issuance of the warrants went smoothly. Marion County Prosecutor David Clayton's office saw the bulk of the activity with 24 of the warrants being handled by him and his staff."

16 of the arrests are related to methamphetamine production or possession. There were seven arrests on charges related to heroin possession or production.

Chief Davis says the arrests indicate a growing problem with heroin and ice imported into the area from the country of Mexico.

Two arrests were on marijuana charges and one arrest for an offense related to prescription medication. Bond ranges from $25,000 $100,000.
