Hannibal Man Arrested on Marijuana Charges
A stolen property investigation also results in a drug arrest. Hannibal Police say they contacted 40-year-old Burton Whittaker of Hannibal Monday in a residence in the 1900 block of Hope. After receiving consent to search the property, officers found a large amount of what is believed to be marijuana in the battery compartment of a work site radio.
Police say Whittaker fled and was found a short time later in a residence in the 1800 block of Hope. Whittaker faces charges of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.
Whittaker was placed on a 24 hour hold in the Marion County Jail.

On Monday, September 14, officers of the Hannibal Police Department contacted 40 year old Burton L Whittaker, of Hannibal, at a residence in the 1900 block of Hope St in connection to a stolen property investigation. After receiving consent to search the property, officers located a large amount of what is believed to be marijuana, inside the battery compartment of a work site radio. Whittaker fled the scene on foot and was located a short time later hiding in a residence in the 1800 block of Hope St. Whittaker was arrested on charges of Manufacture and Delivery a Controlled Substance and Resisting Arrest. He was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Marion County Jail.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
