CASA of Hancock County, a program of the Advocacy Network for Children, is in need of volunteers to assist abused and neglected children in Hancock County.

All volunteers will be a part of CASA's accelerated training to become a voice to speak up for abused and neglected children in the court system. All volunteers will receive 30 hours of training prior to being appointed to represent a young person in court.  The training is free with training manuals and materials provided.

Once trained, CASA volunteers work alongside attorneys and social workers from case inception to its completion. An informational meeting will take place this Thursday (May 24) at noon at the CASA office in Carthage located at the First Baptist Church at 601 Main Street.

The actual training for CASA volunteers will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 8, 9 and 10, and conclude on Tuesday, June 12, with a court observation and then the swearing in of the new volunteers.
