Great April Fools’ Day Pranks – Any Ideas?
April Fools' Day is a week away. Maybe that will make the start of next week a little more amusing than your typical Monday. Just remember, if you come up with a joke and decide to run it by someone, and that someone's response is, "that sounds funny, but be careful, she has a heart condition," you're probably on to something good.
It turns out that we're not the only country that enjoys a practical joke or two. April Fools' Day is celebrated around the world, and the holiday can be traced back hundreds of years. Just think, even in the Dark Ages, when Vikings and pagan tribes and God-knows-who-else could show up at any minute and hack an entire village to death, people were still taking the time to prank one another.
Several years ago, when April Fools' Day also fell on a Monday, I was working at a radio station in Savannah, Georgia. The morning show got on the air and told everyone, "we hope you remembered to set your clocks ahead." When they gave the time, they read it as if there actually had been a time change. They got a lot of people with that one; we heard from listeners that fell for it for months.
What are some of the more memorable April Fools' Day pranks that you have pulled, or had pulled on you? Do you have any great ideas that you can share with the rest of us?
