It wasn't a big hit when it was released 25 years ago, but there is something about it. "Christmas Vacation" is a classic, but back when the movie first came out it opened to lukewarm reviews and opened in second place with $11 milllion. It went on to earn more than $71 million. Now everybody knows the whole film from beginning to the end. And yes, every Christmas we gather around the the Smart TV and say all the words to the movie. That is no joke. I have a brother in law who knows all the words to the whole picture. Maybe that is why he is a little off.

"Christmas Vacation" made millions from TV broadcasts. But to me, the actors who I laughed at the most were Aunt Bethany and Uncle Lewis. I still laugh at them when I see the show, and I have seen it many times. John Hughes wrote and co-produced Christmas Vacation. The characters were based on his short story "Vacation 58",whatever movie that is.

So as you watch "Christmas Vacation" this year, don't pee your pants. It is that funny.
