The Friends of the Log Cabin Village are selling raffle tickets to raise money needed to re-store and re-build 1828 Fraser Log Cabin, a former Stagecoach Stop on the way to Ursa.  Raffle tickets are available from a Friends member or “online” at www.logcabinvillagequincyil.com at a cost of $1 per ticket or 6 for $5.  You can win-one of two, 1 night stays in a King Jacuzzi Suite at the Microtel Inn, one of two gift certificates from the Coach House Restaurant, a Hy-Vee gift card, a season pass to the Quincy Community Theater, or two theater tickets to the play “She Loves Me”.

The prizes will be awarded at the end of Frontier Settlement Day on September 9 and you do not need to be present to win.  The Friends need to raise approximately $40,000 to restore this historic log cabin, like they did the 1850 Clat Adams Log Cabin, which is now used as the General Store for the village, when events are held.  Every dollar helps the Friends move closer to fully restoring and preserving all the village structures, so they all can be open to the public during open houses, events and tours.

Frontier Settlement Day is Saturday, September 9 in Quincy at the Log Cabin Village from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. You will get to see the 1800s village come alive with re-enactors and displayers who show how things were made, school was taught, games were played and in general what life was like in the 1800s.  Re-enactors and others who have period costume are encouraged to come to add to the event.  President Abe Lincoln has also agreed to come and will be available throughout the day to have his photograph taken with attendees.
