As Al Knepler watches this year's World Series he, albeit a Cardinal fan, will be rooting for the Cubs, but hopes that one particular Cleveland Indian player has a good series. Knepler, a long time soccer coach at Quincy Notre Dame High School left QND to take the head coaching position for the Glenbrook North Spartans soccer program. In doing so, he managed to coach a young freshman athlete by the name of Jason Kipnis, now the starting second baseman for the American League Champion Cleveland Indians.

Kipnis went on to the University of Kentucky and then transferred to Arizona State University.  The Indians selected Kipnis in the second round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft.

I caught up with Al Knepler while he was on the golf course to ask him about Kipnis.     Al was kind enough to answer a few questions before he teed off.
