Today marks the one year anniversary of the birthday of Kelton Christopher James Peter, the son of Stephanie and Chris Peter of Quincy.  For eight days after his birth Kelton battled to survive from a rare genetic birth defect called Trisomy 13. Kelton lost his battle to live on the eighth day.  After a period of time for grief, Stephanie and Chris decided to take a horrible experience and try to make it into an opportunity to help others who may have to face the same type of situation. So, after months of planning, they will be holding a series of fundraisers this Friday and Saturday in what is being called the “Forever Kelton Warrior Weekend.”  Friday was to be a day for the benefit golf golf tournament at Spring Lake Country Club but due to the heavy rains it has been [postponed and rescheduled at Spring Lake Country Club for Friday, April 26th instead. There is still time to sign up by calling 257-0042 or 440-6163.

Also on Friday, a fundraising birthday bash in Kelton’s memory will still be held at Gem City Gymnastics Center from 6:30 to 9:30. The public is invited at a cost of $15 per child. Birthday cake and food will be provided.

The “Forever Kelton Warrior Weekend” will wrap up with a Saturday poker run starting at TNT Action Sports and ending at The Dock. Bikes will leave from 10 a.m. through 1 p.m. and make 5 stops along the way to The Dock, where the band Rock Steady will be performing.

All funds raised from these three event will go to the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
