Most of us get up in the morning, have our breakfast and head off to work. Then leave work and head home for dinner. For many people that is not the case, and the food pantries in the area will prove that to be true. The demand for food from people in this area continues to climb and the pantries are struggling to keep up with that demand.

In case you need more information to prove the point, take the numbers released recently by the Madonna House (one of the area food pantry locations). Back in July, the Madonna House conducted a mobile food pantry and the numbers show the need in the area.

On that day 250 households were assisted. 897 individuals turned out for assistance. There were 406 children and 75 adults who were there that day as well. Just think about these numbers and how many people are in need on a daily or weekly basis.

Perhaps on your visits to the grocery store you can plan on purchasing a few "extra" items to help one of the many pantries assisting people in the area.
