A couple of county fairs wrap up and fundraisers for emergency personnel in Hannibal and Quincy head up the calendar of area events this weekend.

The Vandalia Area Fair concludes a five day run Saturday, June 28. Likewise, the Western Illinois Fair in Griggsville wraps up its five day run Sunday.

The Quincy Firefighters fundraiser features its 31st annual Country Music Concert. Ben Swing, Emerson Drive and Dan Everhart will be on stage at the Adams County Fairgrounds, beginning at 6 p.m. Gates open at 5.

Taking place in Quincy's Washington Park is the annual Midsummer Arts Faire. The event includes a juried fine arts exhibition and sale, entertainment, food, and hands-on art activities.

In Hannibal, the 3rd annual Guns and Hoses Charity Softball Game is Saturday at 7 p.m. at Clemens Field. Proceeds help the charities of the Hannibal Police and Fire Departments.

The Hannibal Arts Council hosts the new musical, 'Starting With My Voice,' Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The performance benefits the Historic Riverside Cemetery.

Also this weekend, there's a free harvesting workshop at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Common Ground Community Garden at 322 South Eighth in Hannibal.

The Quincy Art Center holds a "Be a Superhero for the Arts," 5K/1 mile Fun Run/Walk in downtown Quincy at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The Durham Community Center's 51st annual fish fry and carnival is Saturday at 5 p.m.

The Partners 4 Kids in Care's first Co-Ed Softball Tournament begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at Huckleberry Park in Hannibal.
