Driving on Broadway in Quincy can be congested on a good day, but now comes word that the intersection of 12th and Broadway will be reduced to one lane each way beginning tomorrow at 7 a.m. Talk about a traffic backup? Traffic flow will be confined to the inside lanes only through that intersection.  The two outside lanes will be closed for approximately three weeks to allow for a relocation and installation of traffic signals at that intersection.

The intersection of twelfth and Broadway features two banks, a realtor's office and a Chinese restaurant on the corners and is just a block away from Blessing Hospital and two blocks from the Quincy Medical Group, so obviously it draws a tremendous amount of traffic daily.

The closure for three weeks will certainly test the patience of area drivers until the project is complete. Motorists are reminded to drive slowly through the construction work zone and to select an alternative route if possible to avoid additional traffic backups at the intersection.
