I have never heard of this before, but it makes sense in our farm communities.

The Camp Point Journal had a story about St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bowen, Illinois. They celebrated the beginning of this season's fall harvest with a "Drive Your Tractor to Church Sunday." Men, women and children traveled from their homes for worship service via tractors. Some had to leave their home at an early hour to arrive in time for the service.

Fifteen tractors ranging in size from antiques and small models, to large farming equipment met at the Bowen Park at 9 a.m. to form a parade line. The parade of tractors drove throughout the town of Bowen and ended at St. Paul's Lutheran Church for the service at 10 a.m. Following the service, all were invited to the church for a big meal served by the ladies of the church.

I love this kind of story where people who work hard all day can relax and enjoy the fruits of their labor and rejoice in knowing they are doing something good in their town.
