What is The Difference Between an Elephant Ear and a Funnel Cake?

The local fair season is upon us. One of the best things about the fairs is the food you can only get at the fair.  For instance... Elephant Ears and Funnel Cakes.  It seems like every year I ask the same question..."What is the difference between an elephant ear and a funnel cake?" I can never remember!

In researching this, I found out that a funnel cake is a fried fritter often adorned with powdered sugar, and an elephant ear is fried flattened dough. In either case, you won't go wrong in buying one over the other at the fairs this summer.
