I read an interesting story over the weekend regarding the amount of money the City of Chicago spent as a result of the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series. According to an article in Sunday's Herald Whig, Chicago spent $18.8 million in overtime payments during the team's post season drive to baseball supremacy.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the City of Chicago beefed up security, for public safety, traffic management and street cleanup. Most of it went to ($17.2 Million) the Police Department with Emergency Management getting funding ($843-thousand) and Streets & Sanitation getting nearly 3/4 of a million dollars.

According to the story, $2.5 million was spent for the post-World Series parade and rally. By the way, officials have revealed that the City of Chicago will pick up the entire cost and not the Cubs.
