With the announcement of the pending closure of the J.C. Penney store, there has been plenty of speculation about who might take over that space in the Quincy Mall. All kinds of names have been talked about, including Target.

I find that to be unlikely only because Target seems to like the walk-in type store without elevators. At least that's they way all the Targets stores are set up that I have been in. Which leads me to thinking that the ideal, apparently available, store might just be the old County Market store at 30th and Broadway. The only store still in that complex is the CVS Pharmacy Store and it is no secret they are looking for a new location.

What makes Target moving to Quincy even more inviting is the fact that earlier this month Target closed all of their stores in Canada. That move alone might free up capital to invest in other markets in the United States. Unfortunately, this scenario doesn't answer the question of who will move into the J.C Penney location at the mall. Just something to ponder.
