Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s “Million Dollar Bracket Challenge”! We had 234 participants this year, and although our million dollars remains safe for another year, we did have two bracket pickers correctly predict 46 games!

Our top two contestants entering Monday night, Terry Post and Jim Hollman, both had Gonzaga vs UNC in the championship game. A Gonzaga victory would have sealed the deal for Terry, but with North Carolina taking the crown, it came down to a tiebreaker. Ultimately, Jim’s total score prediction of 130 was only six away from the actual score of 136 and he’ll be taking home our $200 tailgating package. Terry is walking away with $50 in Shell gift cards.

Our third place winner, Amy Legrand, also predicted a UNC victory and finished with 45 points. She won a five-way tiebreaker with a total score prediction of 138 and takes home a $25 restaurant gift card.

As far as the Y101/KICK-FM staff, Sarah Deien set a pace early on that the rest of us could not keep up with. Even with a top four pick of Duke, Florida State, Kansas, and Kentucky (none of which actually advanced that far), she still got 42 correct. Michael and I came in second with 40 followed by Jeff at 38, and Brodie and Sam with 35 each. Even with his ridiculous iTunes shuffle bracket strategy, which is COMPLETELY random, Brodie managed to predict the championship matchup and overall winner. If you’re keeping score, his odd strategy has picked a winner in four of the last seven years.
