I read with interest the story in the Quincy Herald Whig (9-24 edition) where Quincy native Scott Thoele had been promoted to Two-Star General in the U.S. Army National Guard.  The promotion ceremony was held at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.

Thoele currently serves as Army National Guard Deputy Commanding General of U.S. Army Forces Command at Ft. Bragg.

I had the opportunity to meet General Thoele a couple of times in the past few months.  One time at the Exchange Club meeting and the other opportunity was at the Veteran’s Day ceremony at the Illinois Veteran’s Home.

Some people are not meant to lead. General Thoele is one who is. He is one person who has career military written all over him and I mean that in a good way. The military needs more General Thoele’s and I for one am glad he is serving my country.  Congratulations General!
