The Rotary Club of Quincy is presenting the 6th Annual Octoberfest on Saturday, October 13th from noon to 10 pm. Admission is free at the event located at Dick Brother’s Brewery Company on York Street between 9th and 10th streets. There will be a free shuttle from the Quincy Senior Center from 1 to 5:30pm. The event will feature posh parties on Park Place with home tours from noon to 4 pm, Calf Town tours from noon to 4 pm, Brewery tunnel tours from noon to 8 pm, Craft beer tastings, live music and Dancing, a beer and brat dash at 3-5-and 7 pm and a stein holding contest at 6 & 8 pm. The Immanuel Methodist Church will be holding their annual Harvest Feast Dinner & Country Store at the church at 601 Washington Street in Canton, Missouri on Saturday, October 13th. The serving time is from 4:30 to 7 pm and will feature a complete Turkey & Ham dinner with carry outs available on a free will donation basis. The Country Store will feature seasonal items, unique crafts and jams & jellies. All proceeds will go to the church’s mission project.

The Pinky Pals Mouse Races in memory of Sarah Roth will be held this Saturday at the Admiral Coontz Recreation center at 301 Warren Barrett Drive in Hannibal. The event will run from 6:30 to 10:30 at a cost of only $20 per person (21 or older please which includes beer, soda and water. You are allowed to bring your own hard liquor with food available for purchase as well. There will also be a silent auction. For tickets call 573-248-7512.

The Annual St. Joseph’s Card Party will be held on Sunday, October 14th at 12:30pm at the church located at 1435 East 1500th Street in Quincy. The event will also feature a luncheon featuring roast beef, mashed potatoes w/gravy, green beans, apple salad, homemade rolls and desserts. There will be two $50 cash prizes, a handmade Rosary and assorted $10 gift cards for prizes. You are also asked to bring your favorite card or board games to the event as well.

October 15 is the registration deadline to sing up your team in the October 19th Fellowship of Christian Athletes Golf outing at Spring Lake Country Club. The cost is $100 per player for the event which will begin with registration at 9am and a shotgun start at 10am. Lunch will also be provided. All proceeds will be used to help with hunger, cancer care and coaches ministry in our area. Or more info, call 440-6214.

The Quincy Park District, Friends of the Trails, and KHQA are hosting the 5K Trailblazer event on Saturday, October 6th at 10 am at Bob Mays Park to help the Park District expand the Bill Klingner Trail. For more information, go to KHQA.com.

The 12th annual Taste of Palmyra, presented by the Palmyra Missouri Chamber of Commerce, will be held on Monday, October 15th from 5p-9p. The Trunk or Treat event will begin at 5pm along with craft vendors, food vendors, entertainment and a tractor show in downtown Palmyra.

The 43rd annual Quincy Preserves “Preservation Restoration” Fall Home Tour will be held on Saturday, October 20th . Two of the must-see homes will soon be restored to their original majesty and grandeur! The remaining three “RENOVATED & RESTORED,” homes are wonderful examples of preserved, architectural treasures.

Meals on Wheels is holding a Cook’s Night Off event on the third Thursday of the month throughout 2018. It’s a fundraiser for the Meals on Wheels program as they offer eat-in, carry-out, or drive thru meals for just $7 each. All meals include either Fried Chicken or Roast Beef, two side dishes, bread and dessert. The hours for each 3rd Thursday of each month are 4 to 6pm at the Senior Center at 639 York Street.

Quincy City Hall will be holding a United Way fundraiser at City Hall at 730 Maine Street on Friday, October 19th. A bake sale will be held that day beginning at 8 am followed by a chili and chili dog lunch from 11 to 2 pm. There will also be a cake raffle and a 50-50 drawing as well. They will also raffle off 2 round trip tickets to Chicago from Quincy Regional Airport and a $100 gift card to Maggiano’s Little Italy Restaurant. Also being raffled will be an Americana Quilt made by Treasurer Linda Moore and $50 in District Dollars. Tickets can be purchased now at City Hall.

The 1st Annual Running with the Eagle’s Wings Memorial 5K Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, October 20th at Wavering and Moorman Parks. The event will begin at 8:30 that morning. All participants are asked to register online by October 7 by going to Facebook.com/RunningWithEaglesWings. The event was founded to bring awareness to Brain Cancer and also to raise money for the Brett Miller Scholarship Funds at both QND and Liberty High Schools.

The Quincy Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association will hold a Short Stacks for a Tall Cause fundraising breakfast at Applebees in Quincy on Saturday, October 20th from 8am to 10am. The cost is only $5.

A pancake & sausage breakfast will be held at the St. Francis Parish Center on North 17th Street. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children 4 to 10 and free for children 3 and under. Sausage will be sold by the pound as well. There will also be a Meat raffle from the Butcher Block with proceeds going to the St. Francis Cub & Boy Scouts of Troop 22.

The Exchange Club's annual Field of Honor is made up of 1000 American Flags and will be on display at Madison Park in Quincy November 9 thru 11. One of those flags could belong to you. For a $30 rental donation, one of those flags will be placed on your property on 4 holidays (Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and Labor Day at sunrise and taken down at sunset. All money raised by the Exchange Club stays in the community to help the Exchange Club’s various projects throughout the year. To sign up for one of the Field of Honor flags to be placed on your property during 4 times a year, go to Q-Flags.com and sign up.

Trick R' Treat Through The District in Quincy will be held on Saturday, October 27th! This 10 am thru 3 pm event offers an allergy-friendly trick or treating environment for families by having multiple teal pumpkin locations that provide children with toys instead of candy. Trick or treating maps will be available on the District’s Facebook event page and in the First Mid-Illinois Plaza on the morning of the event.

A benefit for Joyce Taute will be held at the North Side Boat Club on Front Street in Quincy on Saturday, October 27 beginning at 12 noon. The event will feature a trap shoot, a gun raffle, 50-50 drawings, basket raffles, a bake sale, food and live entertainment. All proceeds will go towards Joyce’s Medical costs and lost income. Donations can be made by calling 257-6375.

The annual Tri State Warrior Outreach Run is October 28th at 9am at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. The proceeds from this race go toward unmet needs of our area veterans. Registration is online at Active.com. You can also grab a race card at Running Wild in Quincy. Check their Facebook page for more details!

The annual Guide Dogs of America Fundraiser will take place on Saturday, November 3rd, from 7pm to 12 midnight. At the Machinists Lodge 822 on North 5th Street in Quincy. The event will feature food & drinks for a donation, a 50-50 raffle and a silent auction. The Hearsay Band will be performing as well. The cost is $5 at the door. The Hannibal Alliance for Youth Success (HAYS is holding their 2nd annual Girls Night Out event on Thursday, November 15 at The Rialto at 601 Broadway in Hannibal. This event raises money for Buddy Packs, a take home bag of simple to prepare snacks and food that go home with over 400 students each week. The event will feature wine tasting and vendor shopping from 5:30 to 8 pm. Tickets are $20 each at the door which includes 4 wine pours and appetizers.
