The Ursa Retreat House is holding its 3rd annual “Soup with Santa”fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 25th, from 11am-3pm. Come out to the country and enjoy the beautifully decorated Retreat lodge, homemade soups, sandwiches and cookies with Santa. Activities include pics with Santa (Sarah Donley photography), cookie decorating for the kids, and a raffle for the many gift baskets donated by the churches. A Free will offering will be accepted for the lunch. All proceeds will benefit the Ursa Retreat House. For more information, call Brennan Reed, 217-316-0163.

The Journey to Bethlehem, an interactive walking tour that transports you back in time to the night Jesus was born, will be held in Hannibal beginning November 30. You and your family will become part of the story as you encounter Roman soldiers, shepherds, a Holy messenger, the village of Bethlehem with animals including sheep, goats, horses, chickens and even a camel! The dates are Nov. 30 & Dec. 1 and Dec. 7 & 8 with the doors opening at 4pm. The first outdoor tour starts at 5pm, The FREE tours start at the Orpheum Theater at 5th and Broadway. Guests will enjoy an indoor production while waiting for their turn to board the Trolleys and be taken to the trail. Strollers and wheel chairs are welcome but not encouraged. Blessed Sacrament Parish will be holding a Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, December 1st. The event will be held at the Knights of Columbus at 700 South 36th Street in Quincy from 9am to 2 pm.

Mark Twain’s Birthday will be celebrated with an old-fashioned Birthday Party for children, a Mustache Competition, and a Masquerade Mask Exhibit and Contest on Saturday, December 1st. It all starts at 1:00 with Twain’s Birthday Party for Children. Tom and Becky will be on hand to celebrate Sam’s Birthday with old-fashioned games, crafts, story-telling and cupcakes! Twain’s Birthday Party will be held on the main floor of the Mark Twain Museum Gallery at 120 N. Main. The event is Free for children to attend and must be accompanied by an adult. A Christmas Shopping Bazaar will be held in the Activities Room of Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra on December 7th from 9am to 1pm. Booth rental is free and there will be lots of jewelry, arts and crafts and much more. If you have any questions please call Alice Humphrey at (573) 769-2213.

The Quincy Shriner’s Skeeter Patrol will be holding a gun raffle at the Northside Boat Club on Sunday, December 16 from noon to 5 pm. The guns involved are a Ruger LC9’s Pistol and a Winchester 12 gauge Super X Pump Model SXP Waterfowl Max 5 or $300 cash. There will also be a Meat Shoot Fundraiser with meat prizes at $5 a round. The cost for a ticket is $10 or 3 for $25 with tickets available at the North Side Boat Club, from any Skeeter Patrol member or by calling 430-0987.

It’s a fundraiser for the Meals on Wheels program as they offer eat-in, carry-out, or drive thru meals for just $7 each. All meals include either Fried Chicken or Roast Beef, two side dishes, bread and dessert. The hours for each 3rd Thursday of each month are 4 to 6pm at the Senior Center at 639 York Street.
