The Common Ground Community Garden in Hannibal is working with Oakwood Elementary School to start seeds for the spring planting season. Recycled small plastic containers are needed for each student. You can bring containers to the Hannibal Parks and Recreation office at City Hall, 320 Broadway.

This is a great way for the Oakwood Elementary School children to learn and enjoy the art of gardening, which sometimes can be lost in this texting mad world. Thank you to the teachers of Oakwood  Elementary for showing this fun and important project to the students.

By the way, if you like to dig in the dirt and you love springtime, an upcoming activity from Common Ground Community Garden could be for you. A garden cleanup day is scheduled starting at 9 a.m. April 4; and Planting Day starts at 9 a.m. May 17.

Common Ground Community Garden is located at 322 S. Eight St., across Warren Barrett Drive from the Hannibal Street Department headquarters.
