Coach Jack Mackenzie Inducted Into the NSCAA Hall of Fame

Former Quincy University men’s soccer coach Jack Mackenzie was officially inducted into the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame last Friday at the organization’s convention and awards banquet in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mackenzie coached the Hawks for 43 seasons, won 516 games and captured nine NAIA national championships from 1969-2011.

Mackenzie’s win total still ranks 10^th all-time across all NCAA divisions.The legendary coach led the program from the NAIA ranks to NCAA Division I before winding up in the GLVC at the Division II level, where the Hawks are prominent on the national stage. In his final season with the Hawks, they claimed their first-ever Great Lakes Valley Conference championship.

Mackenzie was named the NAIA Coach of the Year four times (1971, ’75, ’79, ’81) and led the Hawks to five straight national titles from 1977-81. This is his fourth Hall of Fame induction as Mackenzie has also been enshrined in the St. Louis Players, NAIA and Quincy University Sports Halls of Fame.

In 2013, the Hawks named their new soccer-only, synthetic playing surface 'Jack Mackenzie Field' at Legends Stadium.
