The home of the Cavemen recently received some nice attention from Mark Cryan, former MiLB general manager and contributing editor of Ballpark Digest

During a recent visit to Missouri to see the Cardinals and the Royals, Cryan decided to stop by Hannibal and check out our local baseball scene. Even though flooding closed the main entrance and concession area on the night Cryan attended Clemens Field, he seemed to enjoy the game in America's Hometown. Writing for Ballpark Digest, Cryan said: "The Cavemen have done a wonderful job converting a rickety old stadium into an inviting place to see a game." Cryan says in his review. "Overall, the game experience in Hannibal was very pleasant. The staff were friendly, the beer, food  and tickets were modestly price, and the crowd was enthusiastic."

Deron Johnson, Hannibal Cavemen Director of Marketing and Operations, told KHMO that the team did not receive any advance notice that Cryan would be visiting Clemens Field. "He stopped in unannounced. I felt bad because we had our main entrance, concession stand and plaza area all closed because of high water at the time of his visit. He still seemed very impressed with the park."

Overall, Johnson said he was pleased with the Ballpark Digest article. "Nothing really surprised me. We've all known we have a pretty special place right here in our own backyard. It's always good to hear positive opinions of our park from outsiders, though."
