The City of Quincy is reminding residents of the city about the guidelines for the City Yard Waste Program. According to Marty Stegeman, the Director of Operations, grass clippings and leaves must be placed in paper bags and NOT plastic garbage bags. Plastic bags will NOT be collected.

All biodegradable bags should be marked with an "X" Grass clippings and leaves may be placed loose in a container with handles and marked with a white "X." Those containers must NOT weigh over 40 pounds.

Tree trimmings must be bagged in a similar manner. Tree trimming may also be bundled and tied with string and not taped together. The branched must NOT be over 4 feet long and 1 inch in diameter. Any resident removing a tree is responsible for the removal of the debris from his or her property.

The city does operate a recycling site at 711 W. Radio Road.
