Did you know that the City of Quincy has a Citizen's Fire Academy? It does and you can be a part of it.

The academy will offer insights into how the firefighters and paramedics perform their duties and serve the community. This is a great opportunity to learn from the people who protect us every day. The academy starts March 18 and runs for 10 weeks. Jerry Smith, a public education officer with the department, says the hands-on program will include learning about the department's history, fire behavior and vehicle extraction, seeing simulated fire evolution and technical rescue.

There is no fee and the class size will be limited to 15 people. Participants must be 18 or older. To register for the class call 228-4459. People can also sign up on line by searching for the Citizen's Fire Academy at the City of Quincy's website.
