The Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County invites you to an open house. It is the annual Christmas open houses at Gov. John Woods mansion at 425 South 12th Street on Friday, December 19, Friday December 26 and Saturday,December 27, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. each evening.

The mansion will be decorated for the season with traditional tree and mantle arrangements and will be softly lighted for the occasion by candlelight. Historical Society board members and re-enactors will be in period dress welcoming all to Gov. Woods home and answering questions about the Society, the Wood family and life in Quincy during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The theme of this year's open house is "Til the Boys Come Home, Christmas in Quincy, 1864." Hearts and Minds were very much on the minds on the events happening on distant battlefields and in far away lands but families at home still found the time to celebrate the season.
