Nothing could be more horrific than losing a child. We hear about missing children all the time on the national news and think that it only happens elsewhere.  Within the last couple of years it has happened here with a missing daughter of a Hannibal family and a missing girl in Louisiana, Missouri. The little girl was found safe in  the St. Louis area but the Hannibal woman, Christina Whittaker, is still missing. So these events do happen here and with that in mind, the Illinois State Police, Quincy Police Department, Adams County Sheriff’s Department, Adams County SAFE Kids, and Payson Lodge 379 have teamed up with the Masons of Illinois and the Illinois Child Identification Program for a Child ID event at Kid’s Day at the Adams County Fair.

The event will be held on July 31 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Adams County Fairgrounds.  Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and the program is free of charge.  Parents will receive a color photo, a recorded interview on CD, a DNA sample, and fingerprints for their child.

Everything parents would need to help authorities find their lost child is included in this kit.  For more information, contact the Illinois State Police at 285-2034 or the Pro-Act Office at the Quincy Police Department at 228-4485.
