I have no idea how I happened to be on so many people's birthday list but thank you for all of the birthday wishes I have been receiving today.  Birthdays are fun and they make you reflect on things you have done in the past.  There are two things I have always wanted to do in my life and I am lucky to say that I have done them both.

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Cicadas

Once the summer ends, as will be the case this Wednesday, my eardrums will begin to calm down somewhat after a summer long infiltration of constant noise made by those pesky Cicadas. I hear them but seldom see them, except the shell they leave behind.

Dr. Dorsey’s Reasons for Why More Quincy People are Yawning

Is it just me, or are you also seeing more and more people in Quincy yawning lately? It got me to thinking about just why people yawn in the first place. Is it the brains way of saying I need more oxygen? That’s what I have heard over the years, but researchers are starting to unravel the mystery surrounding the yawn. Today Marks My 41st Anniversary in Radio

It's hard to believe that 41 years ago today this wide eyed radio wannabe sat behind the microphone for the first time. Just What is This Round Object?

Radio stations are notorious for accumulating "junk." Usually it is promotional items or signage, and the junk is kept for future use and most likely will never be used again. My First Job Was Delivering TV Guides, What Was Yours?

I started backtracking to how I got started in this business and what was I doing before I got my first radio job. And then the job before that and the one before that one. I eventually got to the very first job I ever had.

So, How Is Your Spathiphyllum today?

So when I got out of bed this morning the first thing I thought was, "I wonder how our Spathiphyllum is doing?" Well, I got up, got dressed and came to work and I found out immediately that the radio station's Spathiphyllum was ill, and it was showing it.

We Are a Mobile Society, So In What State Were You Born?

With the weather as hot as it was over the weekend, it turned out to be a "lost" weekend as far as doing the things I wanted to do. I did manage to make it to Blues in the District Friday night, and while there I ran into a guy from Hannibal who recognized me. Then I met a guy and his wife from Kansas who was there as well. Saturday, I ventured out for dinner and struck up a conversation from some people from Arkansas, Indiana and Florida. Just by chance these occurrences all took place. It almost felt like I was around more "outsiders" than "locals."  It got me to thinking about just how mobile our society is.
