Guns-N-Hoses Charity Softball Game is Saturday in Hannibal

The 5th Annual Guns-N-Hoses charity softball game will be played on Saturday, August 6 at 7 p.m. at the Clemens Field in Hannibal. The cost is $6 per ticket with 100% of ticket sales going to charities and scholarships.  Tickets can be purchased at any fire station, the police station, or at the gate.

An icon in local radio, Chuck Yates, would have been 68 years old today. It sounds strange to say that since he was always considered a “teenager” by all who knew him.  Chuck passed away on December 19, 2013. St. Jude Run Leaves Quincy Today

The 12th Annual St. Jude Run will take place today in Quincy and end up in the Peoria Civic Center tomorrow. Every year, runners, drivers and volunteers from Quincy and the surrounding areas participate in a 135 mile, relay style event that raises funds and awareness for St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis.

MoDOT Delays Closure of Missouri Highway 79 Until August 15

Weather permitting, Monday, August 15, the Missouri Department of Transportation will close Missouri Route 79 at Guinn’s Creek, located 0.60 mile south of Route H near Annada, to replace the bridge.  The closure date has been pushed back two weeks due to complications with getting materials.

“It will take our contractor about two months to complete the Guinn’s Creek Bridge project,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Brian Haeffner.

‘Rock Against Violence’ Concert at State Room Saturday Night

Dennis Hibbard has seen first hand the violence escalation in Quincy the last two years as he was very close to the Ray Humphrey, Jr. family.  At 14 years of age, Ray was murdered a year ago in March when he was shot sitting outside a friend's home. Then other violent incidents occurred causing Dennis to ask "what can I do to make a difference?" It was then that the idea was spawned to put on a "Rock Against Violence" Concert in Quincy.
