Heroes Are Among Us in Quincy

On Wednesday, a Quincy man and his young child died in a fire at 515 South 17th Street. The call came in around 2:40 a.m. Quincy Police were on the scene first and pulled a person out of a window. That person told the police there were two others in the back of the house. The Quincy Fire Department arrived and pulled the other two out. They were taken by ambulance to Blessing Hospital. 25-year-old old Daniel S. Dissler and four-month-old Hunter Dissler did not survive the fire. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Adams County Child Abuse Cases Continue to Climb

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. It should be 12 months out of the year, not just April, especially when you see the statistics provided by the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS). According to their website, the DCFS receives, investigates and acts upon a report of child abuse or neglect every five minutes, child sex abuse every two hours, and the death of a child by abuse or neglect every day and a half.
