Fourth of July

WGEM has announced a partnership in the presentation of the 2015 Fourth of July Fireworks in both Hannibal and Quincy. WGEM has been involved in putting on the fireworks in Quincy for over 20 years, yet this will be the first time it will participate in Hannibal’s fireworks show as well.

It will be here before you know it, 60 years of fun and heritage at National Tom Sawyer Days.

The Fourth of July is not far away, which means there will be a lot of fireworks displays in the coming weeks! Here is the information we have, so far, on where you can see fireworks in Quincy, Hannibal, and the surrounding area.

The internationally-known celebration of the characters created by Hannibal's favorite son is just around the corner.

For years I have heard that fireworks are illegal in the city limits of Quincy, but that is not a true statement. Some fireworks are legal and others aren't.

As preparations are being made for National Tom Sawyer Days in America's Hometown, the Hannibal Police Department has announced parking restrictions during the Fourth of July Parade, and the Hannibal Cannibal on July 5.

Quincy City Hall will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2014 in observance of Independence Day. City Hall will reopen Monday, July 7 for regular business hours.

The Illinois Veterans Home Quincy and WGEM-TV announced that the 2014 Fourth of July fireworks celebration will once again be held on the Illinois Veterans Home grounds in 2014.  This is the third time in the past four years that the event has taken place there.
