Well, it looks like round two is headed our way with the potential of a foot of snow being dumped on us. I thought the crews did a great job of removing the last snowfall and they are now gearing up for this next challenge.
I am always amazed at why people would like to plunge into a freezing body of water yet they do it year after year. They did it again this past Saturday for the 9th consecutive year with the Polar Plunge to raise monies for the Special Olympians in West Central Illinois.
The annual Quincy media blood drive is Monday, March 11, 2013.
So, we were looking out our window here at Y101 radio to see if it was snowing.
In preparing for the morning show this morning I came across this story about a woman by the name of Carolyn Cummins of Clintwood, Virginia. She was listed as giving birth to her first child on this day, February 20th in 1952. It was listed on the Today in History list. I thought to myself why would this be listed as a historical occasion. I read on and found my answer.

The Polar Plunge for Special Olympics is this Saturday at Moorman Lake in Quincy. Over 300 people will be plunging into the lake at 12 noon Saturday and there is still time to sign up.
Today is President’s Day, a Federal Holiday for many and a regular day for others. It is actually a holiday for employees of Townsquare Media, owners of Y101. KICK-FM, KHMO and WLIQ. As a result our offices will be closed today and will reopen tomorrow at 8am.
Teams are needed for the upcoming Bowl For Kids Sake in Quincy which is the major fundraiser for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. The deadline for teams of 5 or 6 bowlers is this Monday.
