With the college basketball season winding down with the NCAA tournament it is time to reflect on what just happened in Canton, Missouri this past basketball season. For the first time since 1959, The Culver-Stockton men's basketball team made it to the N.A.I.A. National Tournament.
We had Scott McNeal on the air with us this morning. Scott is the founder of Gus Macker Basketball which will be coming to Quincy for the 23rd consecutive year on May 25 and 26 at Washington Park. Gus Macker itself is celebrating it's 40th year of existence since it's founding in Lowell, Michigan in 1974. Macker basketball probably would never had happened if it weren't for Quincy's Mike Lavery.
Ok the deadline was 11 am central time for everyone in America to get their NCAA Basketball bracket turned in. It should be a national holiday. There are bracket contests going on everywhere including here on our webpage.
The Quincy Notre Dame Lady Raiders won their third consecutive State Championship with a 62 to 45 victory this afternoon over Vernon Hills at Redbird Arena in Bloomington, Illinois. The Lady Raiders were paced by Kassidy Gengenbacher with 20 points.
The incredible run continues for the Quincy Notre Dame Lady Raiders! After a win on Friday, QND will play for a remarkable 3rd straight State title in Class 2A basketball. The championship game is at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Don't look now, but Culver-Stockton College is back in the top 25 listing for the NAIA Division 1 National Basketball Poll this week. Culver cracked the top 25 earlier this year but a 3 game losing streak dropped them out of the top 25 for a while. A recent 6 game winning streak catapulted them back into the poll this week at number 23, tied with Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma.
