This summer's 19th season of The District’s Blues in the District Concert Series will kick off tonight in Washington Park in Quincy.  Starting off this year’s season tonight will be Katy Guillen & the Girls from Kansas City, Missouri and a finalist in the 2014 International Blues Challenge.

Other acts throughout the season will be legendary the blues band Dave Weld and the Imperial Flames out of Chicago on June 24. Studebaker John & the Hawks will perform on Friday, July 8 with Reverend Raven & the Chain Smokin’ Altar Boys taking to the stage on July 22. A local Quincy band, Soul Shaker, will play in the park on August 12 and a returning act, Hector Anchondo, will entertain the audience on August 26 in the final concert of the 2016 concert series.

The concerts are held in Washington Park from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and are free to the public.  Food and drink from the Butcher Block will be available for purchase as well. Just bring your lawn chairs, you own food and drink and your ears and enjoy some of the best Blues artists around.
