It turns out that Iowa is a pretty good place to have a baby. At least that's what WalletHub has determined in this year's rankings of Best and Worst States to Have a Baby.

How does one state score above another on such a list? WalletHub says they factored in economic conditions, health care conditions for both babies and mothers, and "baby friendliness" of each state. Baby friendliness takes into account criteria like the number of child centers per capita, the number of moms' groups, etc.

Iowa ranked 7th on the national list, which was topped by Vermont, Maine and Oregon. Missouri ranked 25th and Illinois came in at 40th.
