The Hannibal Jaycees are hard at work on the finishing touches for the 60th annual National Tom Sawyer Days. The festival officially begins on July 2, but armband night at the carnival will take place on July 1. Miller Spectacular Shows is providing the carnival for the second year at National Tom Sawyer Days. According to the Hannibal Jaycees, the crowd favorites from last year will be returning, and some new rides will be appearing at this year's carnival. Chris Powell with the Hannibal Jaycees gave us a sneak peek.

Investigation Discovery will air the debut episode of Untouchable: Power Corrupts on Thursday, July 9. The premise of the series, according to the cable channel, is to offer "an inside look into how a taste for power can turn into a thirst for blood, featuring the perplexing journeys of seemingly good citizens to corruption." The first story that will be told on Untouchable: Power Corrupts will be that of Dr. Michael Swango, a Quincy native sentenced to three life terms after confessing to four murders, though it is suspected that he could have been involved in up to 60.
