'American Idol' has been introducing us to stars for over a decade. Some of the winners from the reality competition have been more successful than others, but winning is not necessarily required to reach super-stardom. In fact, when looking at album sales from American Idol alumni, two of the top five did not win the seasons on which they appeared. Here are five former 'American Idol' contestants that did not win, but have still achieved massive success following their appearances on the show.
Quincy Community Theatre is asking kids, preschool through 6th grade, to help decorate the entrance to 'Seussical: The Musical,' which runs February 6 - 9. Kids are asked to use their imaginations to illustrate the world of Who. Drawings can be mailed to Quincy Community Theatre, or dropped off at the theater office at the Oakley-Lindsay Center. Drawings must be received by February 6.
A train derailed along Quincy's riverfront on Monday night. KHQA is reporting that a problem with the tracks switch is what lead to the accident. Cleanup crews were on the scene early Tuesday morning to begin removing the derailed cars. Both Bonansinga Drive and Front Street are open to traffic. During the pro football season, we asked listeners to participate in the $10,000 Pro Football Pick 'em Challenge. At the end of the season, Darron Jarvis of Canton ended up being the contestant in the Quincy/Hannibal area that picked the most games correctly. Darron now has a chance to win $1000, or even $10,000!
Hannibal Police have announced an arrest in the burglary of the Salvation Army Thrift Store. 41-year-old Jessica Lowe of Hannibal has been arrested in the case and taken to the Marion County Jail. Bond was set at $25,000.
Australian pop star Cody Simpson will be performing Thursday, January 30 in St. Louis at Firebird. Doors will open at 6 p.m. The concert will begin at 7. Simpson is promoting his album 'Surfers Paradise.' Cody co-wrote every song on the album, which debuted in the Top 10 on Billboard's Hot 200 in July.
