Do you believe in ghosts? This past weekend I had a chance to see the new movie 'The Conjuring.' It's a haunted house/ghost movie in the vein of 'The Exorcist' or 'The Amityville Horror.' I enjoy watching these types of movies, but in real life I'm pretty skeptical about "ghost stories." Even so, there are some pretty creepy videos out there! Check out these five scary ghost videos that were shot in Illinois and Missouri.
You ever seen a UFO? Not necessarily an alien spacecraft, but something in the sky you just couldn't explain? Or maybe you did see an alien spacecraft. Who knows? Here are some UFO videos from Illinois and Missouri uploaded to YouTube. Real or not, it's fun to watch them and speculate!
I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but Halloween has gone from being a one night a year event to an entire month-long celebration of parties, candy, horror movies and zombie runs. Not that I'm complaining, I love Halloween, but it can be hard to keep track of everything that's going on. Here is a useful list of dates for this year's Halloween season.
Is there anyone that doesn't like cake? Not only are cakes a lot of fun to eat, but sometimes they're just as much fun to look at! Shows like 'Food Network Challenge,' 'Ace of Cakes,' and 'Cake Boss' are popular because of the amazing creations the bakers are able to come up with. We happen to have some equally-as-impressive cake decorators right here in our area.
It's always fun to read crazy news stories. Stupid criminals and bizarre incidents make headlines across the country. Sometimes they happen in our own backyard. Here are some of the craziest local news stories the Quincy/Hannibal area has seen in the last few years.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month across the nation, but locally, many groups and organizations are planning events to raise awareness, raise funds, and to honor breast cancer patients and survivors.
'Gone Girl' is a hit. The new thriller starring Ben Affleck became the No. 1 movie in the U.S. last weekend, beating out 'Annabelle,' the sequel to 'The Conjuring.' I did not see 'Gone Girl' during its opening weekend, but it's a movie I'm interested in watching. On the other hand, it might be a better idea to read the book before seeing the movie.
People have been doing crazy stunts forever. Probably for as long as there have been people. There was a great special about Harry Houdini on the History Channel not long ago, and one of the his stunts they highlighted was when Houdini jumped off a bridge in St. Louis and into a hole cut in the frozen Mississippi River... with his hands shackled and body covered in chains. Dangerous stunts aren't new, but they're always making headlines. It has been announced that the "king of the high wire" is going to walk across a tightrope 50 stories high in Chicago... while blindfolded.
