Jeffrey Dorsey

My radio career began at KIEE-FM in Harrisonville, Missouri which later became KCFX in Kansas City. I worked there for 4 years before landing a position at WTAD and KHQA-TV here in Quincy doing a radio show and play-by-play sports. After doing TV Sports for KHQA, I worked for both WTAD and WQCY-FM (99Q). I joined WGEM as Operations Manager and then returned to WTAD as General Manager. In 2001 I joined Y101. I have been fortunate enough to win 6 Silver Dome Awards from the Illinois Broadcasters Association, including 5 for best Play-By-Play and one for Best Radio Show Entertainer. My favorite music is the Blues. The New York Yankees, Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, and St. Louis Blues are my favorite teams. I played baseball for 24 years and my claim to fame is a double off of Rick Sutcliffe when we both played in Kansas City. Forty-two years later, I am still doing what I love.

‘Trunk or Treating’ Seems to Be Catching On in America

Like everything else in life, things change over time. Such may be the case with the traditional door to door trick-or-treating in Quincy and America. The popularity of going door to door with your friends on Halloween night has diminished over the years due to concerns about the safety of children. This has led to children trick or treating in the malls or other supervised locations. One of the newest trends on Halloween is what they call “Trunk or Treating”.

War of the Worlds Was a Radio Classic

It was October 30, 1938 and people were gathered around their radio as many families did then. There was no TV then so radio was king. Little did we know how much of a king radio was until people were seated around the radio listening to "The Mercury Theatre on the Air".  The performers were presenting "The War of the Worlds" on Halloween Eve over the CBS Radio Network.
