Jeffrey Dorsey

My radio career began at KIEE-FM in Harrisonville, Missouri which later became KCFX in Kansas City. I worked there for 4 years before landing a position at WTAD and KHQA-TV here in Quincy doing a radio show and play-by-play sports. After doing TV Sports for KHQA, I worked for both WTAD and WQCY-FM (99Q). I joined WGEM as Operations Manager and then returned to WTAD as General Manager. In 2001 I joined Y101. I have been fortunate enough to win 6 Silver Dome Awards from the Illinois Broadcasters Association, including 5 for best Play-By-Play and one for Best Radio Show Entertainer. My favorite music is the Blues. The New York Yankees and the Kansas City Chiefs are my favorite teams. I played baseball for 24 years and my claim to fame is a double off of Rick Sutcliffe when we both played in Kansas City. Forty-two years later, I am still doing what I love.

Let’s Start a Quincy Walk of Fame

We have all heard of the "Hollywood Walk of Fame" where celebrities get their name on a star and placed on the historic sidewalk in California.  It got me to thinking, why can't we do the same here in Quincy? Dress Code for Court is Now in Effect

When people come to court dressed nicely, it tells me that they are taking their charges seriously.  I think it makes a difference at sentencing, too”.  Those are the exact words in a recent Herald Whig story (April 27, 2016) of Chief Judge Diane Lagoski who instituted a dress code that went in to effect on May 1 throughout the circuit which includes Adams, Brown, Calhoun, Cass, Mason, Menard, Pike and Schuyler Counties.

Just What Do These Letters Stand For?

The English language is the toughest language in the world to learn simply because many of our words are spelled the same but mean something different. Take the word "can."  It can be a used as a verb as in "yes, you can do something" or as a noun in "just put it in the can." That is just one word of hundreds like it in our language. Then there are abbreviations for words and acronyms.

If Presidential Election Was Today, How Would You Vote (POLL)

I thought about posting a poll and asking if you were sick and tired of hearing about Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and the primaries. But, I think I already know the results of that poll if I posted it. What I don't know is, who is going to be our next president?

Man, It Hurts to Lose a Game, Your Teammates and a Career

This picture is from an article last year in the Herald Whig newspaper and the story says it all. It is a picture of last year's Quincy University's senior second baseman Kory Wisdom lamenting a season ending loss. If you ever played a sport you know how gut wrenching it is when you realize that you have played your last game ever, be it football, basketball or baseball.
