Quincy Community Theatre announces auditions for its doggone hilarious production of 'Sylvia,' July 29 & 30 by appointment only. Auditions are from 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Greg and Kate have moved to Manhattan after twenty-two years of child-raising in Suburbia. Greg’s career, as a derivative trader, has suddenly come to a halt, while Kate’s career, as a public-school English teacher, is beginning to offer her more opportunities. Greg brings home a dog he found in Central Park – or that has found him – bearing only the name “Sylvia” on her nametag. Street-smart, sassy and sarcastic: Sylvia is your typical “Labradoodle”. And she quickly becomes a major bone of contention between husband and wife. Sylvia offers Greg an escape from the frustrations of his job and the unknowns of middle age. To Kate, she becomes a rival for affection. Can the marriage be saved? Will the dog master the master? 'Sylvia' runs September 12-15 & 19-22, with technical rehearsals September 7-11.

QCT is looking for an actress between the ages of 18-30 to play the sassy pup; an actor in his 40-50’s to play her frustrated, middle-aged master; an actress in her 40-50’s to play Greg’s successful wife; and an actor or actress in their 40-50’s to play the dynamic roles of Tom/Phyllis/Leslie. Due to adult situations and themes, this rollicking comedy is intended for older puppies.

Detailed character descriptions and rehearsal information is available online at www.1qct.org. Auditionees should also familiarize themselves with the script, online under ABOUT US: "Members and Volunteers." A password is required for access.

All roles are available and all are welcome to audition, regardless of experience. To schedule an audition or for password information, contact the box office at (217) 222-3209.
