Annual Ploughman’s Lunch is This Wednesday
On Wednesday, November 13, Christ Lutheran Church at 333 South 36th Street in Quincy will sponsor the 12th Annual “Ploughman’s Lunch” from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Church.
Lunch will consist of Chili, Vegetable Soup or Chicken Noodle soup with rolls, cheese, dessert and drink for $7.00. Tickets may be purchased at the door and carry-outs are available. Deliveries are available by calling 224-1624. All proceeds will benefit Chaddock Home in Quincy. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will provide matching funds.
The custom of a Ploughman’s Lunch was originated in England and was meant as a quick, hearty meal that could be eaten at the side of the field so that work could continue. In the mid 1950’s the tradition was revived by British pubs as a marketing tool to increase sales.
Past Ploughman’s Lunches have raised a total of more that $20,000 to benefit many local organizations
