Ambidextrous Venditte is 3rd Former Quincy Gem Currently in MLB

Former Quincy Gem’s ambidextrous pitcher Pat Venditte has been called up to the Oakland A’s from Triple-A Nashville. Venditte, who played for the Quincy Gems in the Central Illinois Collegiate League in 2006, will be in uniform when the A’s meet the Boston Red Sox tonight.

Venditte will be the first an ambidextrous pitcher in Major League baseball since the Montreal Expos' Greg Harris did it in 1995. Venditte, uses an ambidextrous glove with two thumb holes. Venditte originally signed with the New York Yankees as a 20th-round draft pick out of Creighton in 2008.

Venditte will become the third former Quincy Gem to play currently in the Major Leagues. Neal Cotts is currently pitching for the Milwaukee Brewers and Adam Rosales is playing second base for the Texas Rangers.
