Advocacy Network for Children Receives Several Grants

The Advocacy Network for Children has recently received several grants to enhance their mission of advocating for abused and neglected children in the area. The agency was awarded three grants through the Community Foundation Serving West Central Illinois & Northeast Missouri.

The grants included a $500.00 unrestricted grant from The Stamerjohn Family Fund, a $1,000.00 equipment grant for new equipment for the Pike County and Brown County Children’s Advocacy Centers made possible by grants from the Brown County Endowment Fund, Pike County Endowment Fund and unre-stricted funds through the Community Foundation and a $2,300 equipment grant for new computers in the administrative office in Quincy made possible by a grant from the Grace United Methodist Church of Quincy Fund and the Paul H. & Anne B. Gardner Memorial Fund.

A $10,000 grant from The J.W. Gardner II Foundation was awarded to the agency as well and will be used to purchase new equipment and upgrade their forensic interview recording equipment in several of their Children’s Advocacy Centers.

The organization also received a $500.00 grant from Wal-Mart was awarded in support of McDonough County CASA.

The organization also announced a new CASA training in Adams County which will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. beginning September 21st through November 2nd. Training is free with all training manuals and materials provided.

CASA volunteers are trained community volunteers appointed by a judge to speak up for abused or neglected children in court. CASA volunteers work alongside attorneys and case workers from case inception to its completion. No special experience is required.
