The 2014 Relay for Life of Adams County will be held this Friday night into Saturday morning at Flinn Memorial Stadium in Quincy. The event will feature cancer survivors in our area and also remember those who have lost the battle. Here is a rundown of some of what will be taking place for the event which will commence at 6 p.m. Friday night.

The Opening Ceremony brings everyone together for a high-energy start to Relay to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer

During the Survivors Lap, upbeat music plays as all cancer survivors at the event take the first lap, cheered on by the other participants who line the track, celebrating their victory over cancer.

During the Caregivers Lap, anyone who has cared for someone with cancer walks so they can be honored for their support.

The Luminary Ceremony is a time to remember people we have lost to cancer, to support people who are currently battling the disease, and to honor those who have won their battle.

The Fight Back Ceremony symbolizes the emotional commitment we each make to the fight against cancer.

The Closing Ceremony is a time to remember the lives of those lost and to celebrate that each of us has committed, through our participation in a Relay event, to fight back against this disease over the next year.

Some people will be there the entire time and others will come and go as their schedule permits. Hopefully, you can stop by and see this wonderful event showing people celebrating their victory against cancer.
